“They want regime change in Venezuela to impose a puppet government that would surrender the constitution, national authority, and all our wealth, turning the country into a colony,” Maduro said. “That will never happen.”

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has accused the United States of trying to topple his government and seize control of the country’s natural resources, dismissing Washington’s latest warnings and oil restrictions as a form of “barbaric diplomacy.”

Speaking during a televised address yesterday, Maduro claimed the US was attempting to install a “puppet administration” in Caracas — one he believes “would not survive even 47 hours.” He described the pressure campaign under US President Donald Trump as “warmongering,” saying it is designed to dismantle Venezuela’s constitution and sovereignty.

“They want regime change in Venezuela to impose a puppet government that would surrender the constitution, national authority, and all our wealth, turning the country into a colony,” Maduro said. “That will never happen.”

His comments came after Trump announced a blockade on oil tankers carrying Venezuelan crude under US sanctions. The Trump administration has labelled Maduro’s government a “foreign terrorist organization,” accusing Caracas of stealing US oil and other assets.

“Venezuela is surrounded by the largest naval deployment ever assembled in South America. It will grow even larger, and the shock to them will be unlike anything they have ever faced — unless they return to us all the oil, land, and assets they stole,” Trump declared on Tuesday.

Maduro insisted that Venezuela’s oil exports will continue, saying that international law and the UN Charter guarantee freedom of navigation and global trade. “This is no age for piracy or corsairs,” he remarked.

He stressed that the country’s natural wealth belongs to its people, invoking independence hero Simon Bolivar and constitutional principles. Maduro also warned that Washington’s approach reflects a “diplomacy of barbarism,” contrasting it with international law and peaceful coexistence.

The Venezuelan leader asserted that the nation has both the legal authority and the political resolve to defend itself, adding that it enjoys support from “peoples around the world.” In a message to Colombia, he urged its government and military to oppose foreign military intervention and uphold Bolivar’s regional vision of unity.

Maduro vowed Venezuela would protect its sovereignty “with strength, with truth, and with a love for peace.”
