The family and neighbors of Shaheed Osman Hadi have called for his biography to be included in textbooks and for him to be officially recognized as a national hero.
Following the tragic death of Shaheed Osman Hadi, his family and neighbors in his hometown of Khahsmohol, Nalchhiti, Jhalkathi, have raised strong demands for national recognition. They have urged that his biography be included in textbooks and that he be acknowledged as a national hero by the state. The call was made during a protest and demonstration held late Thursday night, demanding the swift arrest of his killers.
On Friday morning, as news of Hadi’s death spread, relatives, neighbors, and well-wishers gathered at his residence in Khahsmohol, creating an atmosphere filled with mourning, crying, and grief. Due to security concerns, Hadi’s family refrained from speaking with anyone the previous night, but journalists were able to gather information from the house on Friday morning.
Hadi’s brother-in-law, Amir Hossain, expressed deep sorrow and spoke about Hadi’s mission to liberate Bangladesh and protect its people from imperialism. "Osman Hadi's dream was to free Bangladesh and save the people from the claws of imperialism," he said. "His ideals will inspire thousands more to rise for the liberation of the Bengali people."
Hossain emphasized that while the country is offering condolences and support in Hadi’s memory, it should have been given to him while he was alive. "After the July Revolution, people like Osman should have been given the highest level of protection for the welfare of the country," he added.
The family and local political leaders are now calling on the authorities to recognize Osman Hadi as a national hero and to grant him the highest state honors. "We want his name to be forever linked with the honor of Bengal’s heroes," Hossain concluded.
