BNP expels nine leaders, including Rumin Farhana, for violating party directives and engaging in unauthorized organizational activities.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expelled nine of its members for violating party decisions and conducting organizational activities without approval. The announcement was made in a press release signed by BNP's Senior Joint Secretary General, Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, on Tuesday evening, December 30, 2025.
The expelled leaders include Barrister Rumin Farhana, who served as the Deputy International Affairs Secretary of the National Executive Committee; Muhammad Giyas Uddin; Mohammad Shah Alam; Hasan Mamun; Abdul Khalek; former Vice President of Bangladesh Chhatra Dal and General Secretary of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Welfare Front, Tarun De; former Convener of Dhaka North City BNP, Saiful Alam Nirab; Syleth District BNP Vice President, Mamunur Rashid (Chaksu Mamun); and the President of Brahmanbaria District's Banchharampur Upazila BNP, Agriculturist Mehdi Hasan Palash.
The expulsion applies to all levels, including their primary membership in BNP. The notice confirms their permanent expulsion from the party.
In related developments, BNP's alliance partner, Jamaat-e-Ulama-e-Islam, has been given the nomination for the Brahmanbaria-2 seat, as BNP's internal candidate, Barrister Rumin Farhana, who previously aspired for the nomination, will now contest the elections as an independent candidate.
