BNP's Acting Chairman Pays Tribute to His Father, Former President Ziaur Rahman
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has left his Gulshan residence and is heading towards Zia Uddan to pay tribute to his father, the late President Ziaur Rahman. The visit comes after Friday's Juma prayers, and Tarique Rahman is traveling in a red and green bulletproof bus.
After visiting his father's grave, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar to pay his respects to the martyrs of the Liberation War. The Savar Public Works Department has completed cleaning and maintenance work at the memorial in preparation for his visit.
In anticipation of his arrival, BNP supporters from various areas have gathered around the national memorial, creating an atmosphere of celebration. A large gathering of over 50,000 people is expected to attend the event at the memorial.
Security arrangements have been heightened in and around the National Martyrs' Memorial, with extra personnel deployed to ensure safety and smooth conduct of the visit. Arafatul Islam, Additional Police Superintendent of Dhaka District, confirmed that security measures are in place to prevent any disruptions.
Tarique Rahman’s return to Bangladesh from London after 17 years was marked by an unprecedented public reception at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on December 25. The reception saw millions of people gathering along the expressway to greet him. At the subsequent mass rally, Tarique Rahman outlined his vision for a safer and more equitable Bangladesh, where citizens of all faiths and backgrounds would enjoy security and equality.
