Al Rayyan Mosque, located in Hatta, Dubai, has earned the distinction of being the first mosque in the world to achieve the coveted Zero Carbon Certification. This recognition was granted by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), further cementing the mosque’s role in promoting environmental stewardship.

The mosque, which previously earned LEED Zero Energy Certification in 2014 and LEED Platinum Certification in 2021, has now offset up to 175% of its annual carbon emissions. By utilizing renewable energy sources and sustainable management practices, Al Rayyan Mosque has created a positive environmental impact that exceeds its own carbon footprint.

This achievement positions the mosque as a global leader in sustainable architecture, offering a powerful example of how places of worship can contribute to environmental conservation.
