Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reaffirmed his longstanding commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, saying he and US President Donald Trump remain fully aligned on the issue amid heightened regional tensions.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that Iran will never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons while he remains in office, reiterating what he described as a decades-long campaign to prevent Tehran from posing an existential threat to Israel.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, Netanyahu said there is complete agreement between him and United States President Donald Trump regarding Iran's nuclear ambitions, emphasizing that both leaders remain committed to ensuring that the Islamic Republic does not obtain atomic weapons capability.

"As long as I am the Prime Minister of Israel, Iran will not have nuclear weapons," Netanyahu said. "There is full agreement between me and President Trump on this matter."

The Israeli premier stressed that he has spent more than three decades leading international efforts aimed at countering Iran's nuclear programme, arguing that those initiatives have prevented Tehran from achieving its alleged objective of acquiring nuclear arms.

"For more than 30 years, I have been at the forefront of the international struggle against Iran's nuclear programme," Netanyahu stated. "If it were not for this struggle, Iran would have had atomic bombs to destroy Israel long ago."

Netanyahu further accused Iran of pursuing policies aimed at eliminating the Israeli state, describing the issue as a defining mission of his political career.

"Iran is working to destroy the Jewish state, and I dedicate my life to preventing them from doing so," he said. "As long as I am the Prime Minister of Israel, this will not happen."

His remarks come at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East, with concerns over Iran's nuclear activities continuing to dominate regional security discussions. Israel has consistently maintained that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons is a non-negotiable national security priority.

Iran, however, has repeatedly denied allegations that it seeks to develop nuclear weapons, insisting that its nuclear programme is intended solely for peaceful purposes, including civilian energy production and scientific research.

The issue remains one of the most contentious aspects of relations between Tehran and Western powers. Diplomatic efforts aimed at reviving or reshaping agreements governing Iran's nuclear activities have faced repeated setbacks amid deep mistrust and competing strategic interests.

Netanyahu's latest comments underscore Israel's uncompromising stance on the matter and signal that the country's leadership remains prepared to oppose any development it perceives as enabling Iran to move closer to nuclear weapons capability.

As regional uncertainty continues, the future of diplomatic initiatives surrounding Iran's nuclear programme is expected to remain a key factor influencing security dynamics across the Middle East.
