Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said a US-backed security guarantees document is fully prepared. Kyiv is now awaiting confirmation of the date and venue for signing, following progress in talks held in Abu Dhabi.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Sunday that a United States document outlining security guarantees for Ukraine is fully ready, and Kyiv is waiting for confirmation of when and where it will be signed.

“For us, security guarantees are first and foremost guarantees of security from the United States. The document is 100% ready,” Zelenskiy said at a press conference during a visit to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.

He added that once signed, the document would be sent for ratification to both the US Congress and the Ukrainian parliament.

Zelenskiy’s remarks came after Ukrainian and Russian negotiators held talks in Abu Dhabi on Friday and Saturday, their first trilateral meeting that also included US mediators. The discussions focused on Washington’s framework to end the nearly four-year-long war in Ukraine.

Although no final agreement was reached, both Moscow and Kyiv indicated openness to further dialogue. A US official said additional talks are expected to take place next Sunday in Abu Dhabi.

“In Abu Dhabi, the 20-point US plan and several problematic issues were discussed. There were many problematic issues before, but now there are fewer,” Zelenskiy said, signaling cautious progress in negotiations.
