Lutfey Siddiqi Represents Bangladesh at World Economic Forum in Davos

Lutfey Siddiqi, Chief Adviser’s Special Envoy on International Affairs, represented Bangladesh at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland. He highlighted Bangladesh’s reform experience and engaged with global leaders on geopolitics, jobs, trade and development.

Lutfey Siddiqi represented Bangladesh at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting held last week in Davos, according to a press release issued by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.

Invited by WEF CEO Børge Brende, Siddiqi took part in high-level discussions addressing global challenges and opportunities, where he showcased Bangladesh’s recent experiences in economic reform, social movements and governance.

In addition to speaking at public panels on economic development, finance, investment and reform, he contributed to several closed-door roundtables. These included sessions on geopolitics chaired by Finnish President Alexander Stubb, job creation chaired by World Bank President Ajay Banga, gender-inclusive policy chaired by Honduran President Daniel Noboa, and Myanmar issues chaired by East Timor President José Ramos-Horta.

Siddiqi also joined a workshop with ASEAN and East Asian trade ministers chaired by economist Ricardo Hausmann.

On the sidelines of the forum, he held bilateral meetings with several senior global policymakers, including US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, EU Commissioners Roxana Mînzatu and Jozef Síkela, as well as ministers from Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Canada, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.

He also met heads of major international organisations, including WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, IOM Director-General Amy Pope, UNCTAD Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan, and International Rescue Committee CEO David Miliband.

The engagements highlighted Bangladesh’s growing diplomatic footprint and its active role in global discussions on development, trade, reform and regional stability.
