Dhaka Metropolitan Police said the killing of Inqilab Mancha leader Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi was preplanned, enabling the suspects to flee the country. Two Indian nationals accused of assisting the escape have been arrested by local police in India.

The murder of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi, a leader of Inqilab Mancha, was premeditated, allowing the suspects to cross the border before law enforcement could formally identify them, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Briefing reporters at the DMP Media Centre on Sunday morning, SN Md Nazrul Islam, Additional Police Commissioner of the DMP’s Crime and Operations Division, said investigators identified the shooter and his accomplice on the day of the incident using eyewitness accounts, CCTV footage, open-source intelligence, and information technology.

According to police, the shooter Faisal Karim Masud, also known as Daud or Rahul, and his accomplice motorcycle rider Mohammad Alamgir Sheikh, fled the crime scene by CNG auto-rickshaw to Aminbazar, then travelled to Kalamapur in Manikganj. From there, they proceeded to Haluaghat in Mymensingh in a private car, following a pre-arranged plan.

Police said that before reaching Haluaghat, two individuals - Philip and Sanjay -were waiting at a local filling station to assist them. Philip allegedly helped the suspects cross the border into India, handing them over to a person named Putti in Meghalaya. Putti then transferred them to her husband, a taxi driver, who took them to Pura, a town in Meghalaya.

The DMP official said that after contacting Meghalaya Police through informal channels, Bangladeshi authorities learned that Putti and her husband have been arrested. Investigators believe the suspects crossed the border through illegal routes.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and that further details will be disclosed as the case progresses.
