Trump Calls on Microsoft to Dismiss Global Affairs Chief Lisa Monaco

U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday called for Microsoft to terminate Lisa Monaco, the company’s president of global affairs and a former senior official in the Obama and Biden administrations. In a post on Truth Social, Trump accused Monaco of being “a menace to U.S. national security,” citing Microsoft’s extensive contracts with the federal government.

Monaco, who joined Microsoft in July, previously served as a top security aide under President Barack Obama and as Deputy Attorney General under President Joe Biden. She also helped coordinate the Justice Department’s response to the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack by Trump supporters. Her security clearances were revoked in February, and Trump claimed Friday that she has since been banned from all federal properties due to what he described as “many wrongful acts.”

Neither Monaco nor Microsoft responded to requests for comment on Trump’s statement.

Trump’s remarks come one day after former FBI Director James Comey was indicted on charges of making false statements and obstructing a congressional proceeding. Comey had authorized the investigation into potential ties between Trump’s 2016 campaign and the Russian government.

Speaking to reporters Friday, Trump said he expects more indictments of individuals he considers political adversaries. “I think there will be others,” he said, though he declined to name specific targets.

Since returning to office in January, Trump has increasingly used the power of the presidency to go after perceived enemies. His administration has cut off federal contracts with law firms tied to Democratic causes, threatened university funding over political speech, and dismissed prosecutors involved in past investigations of him.

Trump has also advocated for criminal charges against several prominent Democrats and former officials, including ex-National Security Adviser John Bolton, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.).
