Local health authorities said the number of Palestinians killed in Gaza has climbed to nearly 71,000. Israeli attacks have continued despite a ceasefire agreement reached in October.

The death toll in Gaza Strip has risen to 70,945, mostly women and children, as Israeli military operations continue despite an agreed ceasefire, according to medical sources cited by WAFA.

Local reports said on Friday that the number of Palestinians wounded since October 2023 has increased to 171,211, with many victims still believed to be trapped under rubble. Medical sources added that at least three Palestinians were killed in the past 24 hours, including two cases that had not been previously recorded.

Later on Friday, Israeli forces reportedly killed another Palestinian in northern Gaza, bringing the total number of deaths since the ceasefire took effect in October to 411, according to local authorities.

Officials say Israel has failed to meet key commitments under the first phase of the ceasefire agreement, particularly the obligation to halt hostilities. Israeli forces have continued air and ground attacks, they added, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

The war has left much of Gaza reduced to ruins and has displaced nearly the entire population, according to humanitarian agencies. The United Nations estimates that reconstructing Gaza will cost approximately $70 billion, highlighting the scale of devastation caused by the conflict.

Israel disputes some casualty figures released by Gaza-based authorities, while international calls continue for a permanent ceasefire, protection of civilians, and unhindered humanitarian access.
