China and Russia have conducted their 10th joint strategic air patrol over the East China Sea and the western Pacific Ocean as part of their 2025 military cooperation plan, marking yet another show of deepening defense coordination between the two powers.

Footage released on Tuesday shows Chinese aircraft taxiing, taking off, and flying in formation alongside Russian strategic bombers. China deployed a range of military platforms, including H-6K bombers, J-11, Su-30, and J-16 fighter jets, as well as the KJ-500A airborne early warning aircraft. From the Russian side, Tu-95MS long-range strategic missile carriers participated in the patrol.

According to a statement from China’s Ministry of National Defence, the joint air mission demonstrates the two militaries’ ability and determination to address regional security challenges and safeguard peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific. The ministry described the operation as a “standard joint air-strike group,” highlighting the growing interoperability between the two forces.

Japan expressed concern over the proximity of the patrol, noting that the aircraft flew near its airspace. In response, Chinese officials emphasized that the patrol was part of a routine cooperation plan and not directed at any specific country. They also pointed out that China and Russia have been conducting such joint air patrols annually since 2019.

The latest operation underscores the continued strengthening of military collaboration between Beijing and Moscow at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions across the region.
