FIFA Launches $60 Affordable Ticket Tier After World Cup Pricing Backlash

FIFA has introduced a new $60 “Supporter Entry Tier” ticket category for all 104 matches of the 2026 World Cup. The decision aims to ease public criticism over high ticket costs and improve affordability for loyal fans.

FIFA has unveiled a new affordable ticket tier priced at US $60 (around £45) for all 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, responding to widespread criticism over the tournament’s previously high ticket prices.

The new category, called the “Supporter Entry Tier,” is designed to make live match attendance more accessible to dedicated fans of qualified national teams. These tickets will be available for every game-from the group stage right through to the final-but in limited numbers, accounting for only a small portion of overall seats.

Under the revised structure, 10 % of each national federation’s ticket allocation will be priced at the $60 level, with the remainder split between other supporter price tiers. This means that, in practice, only a few hundred seats per match will be offered at the lowest price point. National federations will manage eligibility and distribution, typically prioritizing long-standing supporters.

The change comes amid strong global demand- FIFA reported millions of ticket requests- and vocal fan backlash labeling earlier pricing plans as excessively expensive. While the new tier represents a concession to affordability concerns, many supporters and fan groups argue that more substantial changes are still needed for broad access.

The 2026 World Cup is jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, marking the first 48-team tournament and continuing FIFA’s push to grow the sport globally.
