Indian 'Tejas' Fighter Jet Crashes at Dubai Airshow, Pilot Killed
The Chronify
At the ongoing Dubai Airshow, an Indian-made 'Tejas' fighter jet tragically crashed, resulting in the death of its pilot. The incident occurred on Friday, November 21, at 2:10 PM local time at Al Maktoum International Airport, according to reports from Gulf News.
A video circulating on social media shows the fighter jet losing control and plummeting to the ground, followed by a massive explosion and a burst of flames. Thick black smoke spread across the airport area after the impact.
The 'Tejas,' developed by the Indian state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), is a multi-role, single-engine fighter aircraft that has become a key asset for the Indian Air Force. The most advanced version, the 'Tejas Mark-1A,' is currently being manufactured at HAL's factory in Nasik. Capable of both air-to-air and air-to-ground combat, the 'Tejas' is designed with cutting-edge indigenous technology.
This is the second time in two decades that a 'Tejas' aircraft has crashed. The first incident occurred in March 2024, when another 'Tejas' fighter crashed in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer. Fortunately, the pilot was able to eject safely during that accident.
