37,000 BGB Personnel Deployed Nationwide for Election Security

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has launched a massive security operation, deploying over 37,000 members to safeguard the 13th National Parliament Election and the July Charter Referendum.
In a major move to secure the upcoming national polls on February 12, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has initiated a countrywide deployment covering 489 out of 495 upazilas. Dhaka Sector Commander Colonel SM Abul Ehsan announced the measures on Saturday, confirming that BGB will operate both independently in border regions and as a mobile strike force in the interior to maintain law and order.

- Specialized Units: Quick Response Forces (QRF), Rapid Action Teams (RAT), and a dedicated Helicopter Unit are on standby for immediate intervention.
- Dhaka Sector Focus: 134 platoons are being stationed across 42 temporary camps to cover 51 constituencies in the capital and surrounding districts.
- Advanced Equipment: Personnel are equipped with body-worn cameras for accountability, night vision devices, and armored personnel carriers (APCs).
Each upazila will be monitored by two to four platoons, supported by a specialized K-9 Dog Squad for search operations. To ensure transparency, BGB has established 24/7 monitoring cells at battalion and sector headquarters. Colonel Ehsan emphasized that all members have undergone specific training to remain strictly professional and impartial throughout the electoral process.
