In a remarkable catch, a 2.4-kilogram Hilsa fish was netted from the Payera River in Talataly, Barguna, with a price tag of 12,000 Taka. The fish was caught on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 19, by local fisherman Abul Hossain of Nakori.
After the catch, the fish was taken to the Talataly Fish Market, where it was initially bought for 9,500 Taka by Moyer Doya Fisheries. The fish was then shipped off to the capital, Dhaka, for sale at the Jatrabari Fish Market, where it was priced at 12,000 Taka.
Local fish trader Mohammad Al-Amin confirmed that the 2.4-kilogram Hilsa was purchased for 10,000 Taka from the wholesale market, and then sent to Dhaka for resale. This rare catch highlights the growing value of Hilsa, especially during peak seasons, making it a prized commodity in Bangladesh's fish market.
