Housing and Local Government Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan said only defeated forces and collaborators of fascism are campaigning against the July Charter. He urged citizens nationwide to vote “Yes” in the referendum to uphold the spirit of the July Uprising.
Adviser to the Ministries of Housing and Public Works, Industries, and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adilur Rahman Khan on Friday said the government is seeking a “Yes” vote in the referendum to implement the July Charter, while those opposing it are allies and collaborators of fascism.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after placing a wreath at the memorial of the martyrs of the July Uprising in the district town on Friday morning.
Adilur Rahman Khan said the previous fascist government was ousted through a mass uprising driven by the sacrifices of students and the general public, and that the current government emerged from that historic movement.
Expressing optimism about the electoral process, he said he hopes the upcoming national election will be held in a peaceful environment and that the people will overwhelmingly endorse the July Charter by voting “Yes” in the referendum.
He urged citizens across the country to actively participate in the vote and cast their ballots in favour of the July Charter, describing it as a continuation of the people’s struggle for justice, democracy and accountability.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan, Superintendent of Police Marufat Hossain, and other senior government officials were present during the programme.
