Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has instructed army personnel to maintain strict neutrality while carrying out responsibilities during the upcoming national parliamentary election and referendum.
He emphasized that army members must ensure professionalism, neutrality, discipline, patience, and citizen-friendly behavior while performing duties related to the election process.
The directives were issued on Tuesday during the army chief’s inspection of troops deployed in Rangpur and Rajshahi, according to a press release from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate.
Ahead of the polls, General Waker visited the two divisions to assess the overall law and order situation and review the progress of duties being carried out by army personnel deployed under the “In Aid to Civil Power” framework.
During the visit, he conducted on-the-spot inspections of field-level operations, provided necessary guidance to troops, and exchanged views with officials of the civil administration.
A coordination meeting was held at the Rangpur Circuit House, where the army chief met senior military officers, divisional and district administration officials, and representatives of various law enforcement agencies. Another meeting took place later at the Rajshahi Infantry Regimental Center (BIRC).
The discussions focused on inter-institutional coordination, security planning, and field-level preparedness to ensure that the upcoming election and referendum are conducted in a peaceful, fair, and neutral environment.
