Bangabandhu Satellite-1 recorded its first-ever profit in the 2024–25 fiscal year, earning Tk 38.35 crore. The milestone comes six years after its launch, marking a major breakthrough for Bangladesh’s space sector.
Bangladesh’s maiden communications satellite, Bangabandhu Satellite-1, has achieved a historic financial milestone by generating a profit of Tk 38.35 crore in the 2024–25 fiscal year. And this profit came from using only half of the capacity. This is the satellite’s first profitable year since it was launched into space six years ago.
Officials attribute the financial turnaround to expanded broadcasting services, increased client onboarding, and more effective commercial utilization of the satellite’s transponders. The profit marks a significant step forward for Bangladesh’s space and telecommunication capabilities, reinforcing the country’s position in the global satellite service market.
Experts believe this achievement will inspire confidence in future aerospace investments and strengthen the economic prospects of the nation’s space programs.
