CA Calls for Armed Forces’ Role in Ensuring Free and Fair Polls

Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has urged the Armed Forces to uphold professionalism, neutrality and coordination to ensure participatory, fear-free and credible elections. He made the call ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum-2026.
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Sunday instructed the Armed Forces to perform their election-related duties with professionalism, neutrality and strong inter-institutional coordination to ensure a free, fair and peaceful electoral process.
He gave the instructions while speaking at a views exchange meeting with senior officials of the Armed Forces at the Helmet Auditorium of the Army Headquarters in Dhaka, according to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum-2026. Prof Yunus stressed the importance of conducting elections in a participatory and fear-free environment so that voters can exercise their rights without intimidation.
Upon his arrival at the venue, the Chief Adviser was received by Waker-Uz-Zaman, M Nazmul Hassan, Hasan Mahmood Khan, and Armed Forces Division Principal Staff Officer S M Kamrul Hassan.
At the outset, Prof Yunus acknowledged the Armed Forces’ historic and responsible role during national needs and expressed gratitude for their patience and professionalism in maintaining law and order over an extended period.
Senior officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force, invited guests and members of the media were present at the meeting. Discussions covered a range of contemporary and operational issues related to election security and coordination among state institutions.
