Civic memorial meeting for Khaleda Zia to be held Friday

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party will host the programme at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad, with politicians, eminent citizens and interim government representatives expected to attend.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will organise a civic memorial meeting on Friday in memory of former Prime Minister and party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
According to the BNP media cell, the memorial meeting will begin at 2:30pm at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. The programme will be held under the banner of a Citizens’ Committee initiated by the BNP.
The event is expected to be attended by politicians from different parties, eminent personalities, and representatives of the interim government, reflecting Khaleda Zia’s long-standing role in Bangladesh’s political life.
Begum Khaleda Zia passed away on December 30 while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. Following her death, the BNP observed a seven-day mourning programme. The government also declared three days of state mourning, including a one-day public holiday, to honour the three-time former prime minister.
