Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed urged voters to take part in the February 12 referendum, saying a ‘Yes’ vote would pave the way for meaningful reforms and reflect the will of the people.

Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed on Friday described the upcoming national election and referendum as highly significant, calling on citizens to actively participate and vote “Yes” in the referendum to support long-term reforms.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of a “Vote Vehicle” in front of the Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner’s Office, launched as part of the public awareness campaign in favour of the referendum.

Dr Salehuddin Ahmed said participation in the February 12 referendum is crucial, as a “Yes” vote would ensure reforms are carried out with direct public involvement rather than through unilateral decisions by past governments.

“Ordinary people in villages are not unaware of the referendum. The government is conducting extensive publicity and awareness campaigns. People themselves are also campaigning in favour of ‘Yes’,” he said.

Emphasising the importance of the election, the finance adviser said it would be historic and closely watched around the world. He urged voters to exercise their democratic rights responsibly by supporting reforms through a positive vote in the referendum.

Earlier, Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, who also oversees the Ministry of Science and Technology, formally inaugurated the “Vote Vehicle.” As part of the ‘Yes’ campaign, the decorated vehicle will tour roads and neighbourhoods across Sirajganj district daily to raise public awareness.

The inauguration ceremony was chaired by ANM Bazlur Rashid, Divisional Commissioner of Rajshahi.
