Education Adviser Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar saidthat the interim government has decided to recruit more than 67,000 teachers to fill vacant posts in schools, colleges, madrasas, and technical institutions across Bangladesh.

Speaking to state-owned BSS yesterday at the Secretariat, he said recruitment circulars are being issued and described the move as a major achievement of the interim government.

Dr Abrar said reducing unemployment and ensuring the appointment of qualified teachers are key priorities, adding that the decision reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the education system.

He said the Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) has been authorised to carry out the recruitment process, with public notices expected shortly. He urged eligible and motivated jobseekers to apply according to their academic qualifications.

Highlighting the long-term impact, the adviser said capable teachers are essential to building an education system of international standard.

He said the Ministry of Education approved the recruitment after reviewing proposals from NTRCA and holding several meetings to speed up the process. All vacant posts under the ministry will be advertised and filled, he added.

According to the breakdown, 66,962 posts will be filled, including 29,325 under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, 833 under the Directorate of Technical Education, and 36,804 under the Directorate of Madrasah Education.

Dr Abrar expressed confidence that the recruitment would be completed transparently and would help improve education quality while creating employment opportunities for young professionals.
