Indictment order against Ziaul Ahsan over enforced disappearance, killings on Jan 14
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 has fixed January 14 to pass an order on charge framing against former NTMC director general Ziaul Ahsan over alleged enforced disappearances and mass killings.
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Wednesday fixed January 14 to pass an order on framing of charges against dismissed Major General Ziaul Ahsan in a case involving allegations of enforced disappearances and more than a hundred killings.
The two-member tribunal, headed by Md Golam Mortuza Majumder, set the date after hearing arguments from both sides. The prosecution sought formal charge framing, while the defence prayed for the accused’s discharge from the case.
Muhammad Tajul Islam appeared on behalf of the prosecution, while senior advocate Mansurul Haque Chowdhury represented the accused.
Earlier, on December 17, 2025, the prosecution submitted the formal charge, bringing three specific counts against Ziaul Ahsan. The allegations include involvement in abduction, torture, enforced disappearance, killings and other crimes against humanity.
Ziaul Ahsan, a former Director General of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC), is currently in custody and is facing trial in multiple cases before the tribunal.
The tribunal is expected to decide whether the charges will be formally framed or whether the accused will be discharged when it delivers its order on January 14.
