Teenager's Tragic Death After Mobile Argument

The tragic incident took place in the Sona Rang Union of Munshiganj's Tongibari Upazila, where a young girl, 14-year-old Nodi Akter, committed suicide after being scolded by her mother for watching videos on her mobile phone.

In a heart-wrenching incident on November 6, 2025, at around 8:30 PM, Nodi Akter, a student of a local school, took her own life after a heated argument with her mother, Nargis Begum. According to police and local sources, Nodi was watching videos on her phone when her mother told her to stop using the mobile. This led to a verbal disagreement, and the teenager, feeling upset, retreated to her room, locked the door, and tragically hung herself using a scarf from the ceiling fan.

Family members, after noticing the door locked, broke it open and found Nodi hanging. They rushed her to the Tongibari Upazila Health Complex, but the attending doctor declared her dead on arrival. The police arrived at the scene soon after and initiated an investigation into the incident.

Tongibari Police Station's Officer-in-Charge (OC), Saiful Alam, mentioned that no complaints were filed by the family. The body was handed over to relatives after completing the necessary legal formalities, and an accidental death case has been filed in connection with the incident.
