YUNet Bangladesh Gaming and ESports 2025 Summit Highlights Future of Gaming and Esports in Bangladesh

YUNet Bangladesh Gaming and Esports Summit 2025 was held on 12 December at the IDEB Auditorium in Dhaka, drawing students, developers, industry leaders and gaming communities from across the country. The full-day summit marked a significant milestone for Bangladesh’s growing gaming and esports ecosystem.
The event featured more than 25 speakers, including academics, technology professionals, game developers and esports leaders. They discussed the future of gaming and esports through the lens of Bangladesh’s digital economy, highlighting the sector’s potential for youth employment, entrepreneurship and global participation. Speakers noted that as digital entertainment and interactive media continue to evolve, Bangladesh has a strategic opportunity to build careers in game development, production, management and competitive esports.
A major attraction of the summit was the grand finale of the Inter University Esports Club Championship (IUECC 2025). The tournament brought together 16 university esports clubs, competing across five titles including Valorant, Mobile Legends, PUBG Mobile, EA Sports FC and eFootball. After a full day of matches, BRAC University Esports Club emerged as the first ever national champion, while IUB Esports Club secured the runner-up trophy. Organisers noted that this championship is expected to grow into a national collegiate esports tradition in the coming years.
The summit also hosted the BGES Game Developer Awards in association with the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Bangladesh Chapter.
Winners included: Gold Award: Compress Space by B-Deshi Interactive, Silver Award: Null by SS Studio, Bronze Award: Motorshooter by indie developer Imtiaz Ahmed Dipto.
The awards highlighted the growing creativity within Bangladesh’s game development scene and the increasing interest among young developers.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the event’s Chief Guest, Monjur Mohammad Shahriar, Project Director of Bangladesh High Tech Park Authority, encouraged attendees to embrace innovation across all fields. He said that the gaming and esports market holds enormous potential for Bangladesh if the youth are guided and supported properly.
Mahir Ashef, Event Convenor of BGES 2025, said that initiatives like this summit and campaigns led by university esports clubs can help break long-standing stigma around gaming. He noted that competitive gaming and its broader ecosystem can become viable career paths for young people.
Event Director Md Altamis Nabil added that esports and gaming cultivate essential soft skills such as reasoning, problem solving, teamwork and negotiation. He emphasised the importance of building skills not only among athletes but also in supporting roles such as production, analysis, administration and content creation, which can help Bangladeshi youth integrate into the global esports market.
Organised by Youth Upskill Network - YUNet, the summit brought together industry stakeholders, students and professionals with the aim of creating opportunities for learning, networking and collaboration. YUNet stated that it intends to continue hosting initiatives that empower youth through skill development, exposure and participation in emerging digital industries. Organizers plan to take this event to the international level next year.
