Mushfiqur Rahim has firmly established himself as one of the greatest cricketers in Bangladesh’s history, marking a historic milestone by scoring a century in his 100th Test match. The veteran wicketkeeper-batter became the first Bangladeshi player to reach this remarkable feat and celebrated the achievement in style on Day 2 of the ongoing Dhaka Test.

At the close of Day 2, Bangladesh had posted a solid 301 for 4 in 94 overs, with Mushfiqur unbeaten on 100 and Liton Das at a composed 54. Starting the day on 99 not out, Mushfiqur showed incredible patience, opting for a cautious approach and refraining from any unnecessary risks. He faced a maiden over before reaching his century in the second over of the day, prompting an emotional celebration from the 38-year-old, who made his Test debut in 2005 in England.

On Day 1, Mushfiqur had ended his innings unbeaten on 99, after 90 overs of disciplined batting. While officials briefly considered extending play to allow him to reach his century, the call for stumps left him just a single run away from the landmark, which he successfully completed the following morning.

With this century, Mushfiqur joins an elite list of only ten players in cricket history who have scored centuries in their 100th Test match. This significant achievement adds another illustrious chapter to his career and provides Bangladesh with a strong platform in the first innings of this crucial Test match.
