Bangladeshi woman and her 4-year-old child, arrested while attempting to cross into India, handed over after flag meeting.

The Border Security Force (BSF) of India has returned a Bangladeshi woman and her four-year-old child, who were detained for attempting to cross the border illegally into India. The two were handed back after a flag meeting between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and BSF on Tuesday afternoon.

The woman, identified as Mosamma Sumaiya Akter, is from the Kotwali police station area of Mymensingh. She and her child were detained by the BSF at the Khandooia Camp of the 71st Battalion after crossing the border near the Faridpur border pillar in Chapai Nawabganj on January 12.

Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mustafizur Rahman, commander of the 53 BGB Battalion in Chapai Nawabganj, confirmed the return of the duo, saying, "After the incident, we immediately contacted the BSF. A flag meeting was held on Tuesday, and the woman and child were handed over to BGB."

Sumaiya and her child were later sent to the Chapai Nawabganj Sadar Police Station. Sumaiya's husband, upon receiving the news, arrived at the station.
