Israeli military attacks in Gaza have killed one Palestinian and injured at least 12 others, according to medical sources. The incidents occurred despite a ceasefire that has been in place for more than two months.
At least one Palestinian was killed and 12 others injured in Israeli military attacks across the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to medical and local sources, marking another alleged violation of the ceasefire agreement in effect since October.
Medical officials told Anadolu Agency that one person was killed and nine others injured when Israeli forces opened fire on homes in the town of Jabalia in northern Gaza. The area had previously been vacated by Israeli troops under the terms of the October truce.
In a separate incident, an Israeli drone strike hit eastern Khan Younis in southern Gaza-an area designated by the Israeli army as a military-controlled “yellow zone”-injuring three Palestinians. Medical sources said the civilians were targeted while collecting firewood near the border of the restricted military area.
Witnesses also reported Israeli air and artillery strikes on the Al-Tuffah neighbourhood in eastern Gaza City, while heavy gunfire from Israeli military vehicles and helicopters targeted homes in the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. No immediate casualty figures were reported from those locations.
According to Gaza’s media office, Israeli forces have carried out 875 ceasefire violations since October 10, resulting in more than 400 deaths and over 1,100 injuries. The Israeli military has not issued immediate comment on the reported incidents.
Health authorities in Gaza say that since October 2023, nearly 71,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed and more than 171,000 injured during Israel’s ongoing military campaign. Israel disputes some of these figures, while international calls for accountability and protection of civilians continue.
