Trump said Rodríguez was cooperating but warned that she could face consequences more severe than those imposed on Maduro if she failed to meet U.S. expectations.

Venezuela’s acting president Delcy Rodríguez stated nthat her government is open to cooperation with the United States, following a U.S. military operation that resulted in the detention of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who were taken to the United States to face criminal charges.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Rodríguez said Venezuela is inviting Washington to engage in dialogue aimed at cooperation and mutual development, stressing that any engagement should be grounded in international law and respect for peaceful coexistence.

She said her administration is seeking to establish fair and respectful relations with the United States, as well as with other countries in the region, based on sovereignty, equality and non-interference in internal affairs.

Rodríguez added that peace and dialogue—not conflict—are in the interests of President Donald Trump, the peoples of the region and Venezuela itself. She said this approach has long been advocated by Maduro and now reflects the position of the Venezuelan people.

Earlier on Sunday, Trump said Rodríguez was cooperating but warned that she could face consequences more severe than those imposed on Maduro if she failed to meet U.S. expectations.

Asked what Washington wanted from Rodríguez, Trump said the United States required full access, including access to Venezuela’s oil and other resources, which he said were necessary to rebuild the country.

Maduro and Flores arrived in New York late Saturday and are currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. They are facing U.S. federal charges related to drug trafficking and alleged links to criminal groups designated as terrorist organisations.

Maduro has rejected all allegations. Officials in Caracas have condemned the detentions and demanded the immediate release of the couple.
