BGB Seizes BDT 1.34 Crore Worth of Illegal Indian Goods at Comilla Border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) successfully seized a large amount of illegal Indian goods, including saris, three-piece suits, and fireworks, during an anti-smuggling operation at the Comilla border. The total value of the goods seized is estimated at BDT 1.34 crore.
The operation was carried out by BGB personnel from the 10th Battalion at the Yashpur Border Outpost (BOP) in two separate raids on Sunday, January 18. The first raid occurred at 3 AM, followed by another at 8 AM, in areas near the Muropura and Paharpur localities, about 250 yards and 100 yards inside Bangladesh's border, respectively.
During the operation, a mini pickup truck was found abandoned with the smuggled goods. No smugglers were arrested during the raids.
The seized goods include a variety of Indian saris, three-piece suits, and fireworks, with an estimated market value of BDT 1.34 crore. The seized items are being transferred to the customs authority as per legal procedures.
The BGB has stated that it will continue to enhance patrols and intelligence surveillance to combat cross-border smuggling and other illegal activities, ensuring the continuation of such operations in the future.
