27 BGB Platoons Deployed in Dhaka for Khaleda Zia’s Janaza and Burial

Border Guard Bangladesh has deployed 27 platoons across key locations in Dhaka to ensure security during the janaza and burial of Begum Khaleda Zia. Bangladesh is observing three days of state mourning, with a general holiday declared on Wednesday.
A total of 27 platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed at strategic points in Dhaka to maintain tight security surrounding the janaza and burial of Khaleda Zia, former prime minister and chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
BGB Headquarters Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam said the deployments cover key locations including Evercare Hospital, the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban area, and Zia Udyan, aiming to strengthen overall security arrangements during the funeral proceedings.
The Namaz-e-Janaza of Begum Khaleda Zia is scheduled to be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday at Manik Mia Avenue, after which she will be laid to rest at 3:30pm beside her husband, Ziaur Rahman, at Zia Udyan.
Begum Khaleda Zia passed away at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka at 6:00am on Tuesday. She was 80 years old.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh is observing a three-day state mourning, with Wednesday declared a general holiday, following her death. The decision was announced by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus in a televised address to the nation on Tuesday.
Authorities have urged the public to maintain discipline and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure the funeral proceedings are conducted peacefully and with due respect.
