Pakistan-born USA Pacer Ali Khan Denied Indian Visa Ahead of T20 World Cup

USA fast bowler Ali Khan has revealed that his Indian visa application for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has been denied, raising uncertainty over his participation just weeks before the tournament.

USA pacer Ali Khan has disclosed that he has been denied an Indian visa for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, dealing a major setback to the American team’s preparations ahead of the global tournament scheduled to begin in early February.

The Pakistan-born cricketer shared the news on Monday through an Instagram story, posting a photo with the caption: “India visa denied but KFC for the win.” His post quickly drew attention within the cricketing community, as the denial comes less than a month before the World Cup.

The development is a significant blow for the USA side, whose Group A matches are largely scheduled in India. The team is set to face hosts India in a high-profile opener on February 7 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, followed by matches in Chennai against the Netherlands and Namibia. Ali Khan is considered a frontline seamer and a key component of the USA bowling attack, particularly in powerplay and death overs.

Reports suggest that Khan may not be the only USA player affected. Other team members of Pakistani origin, including wicketkeeper-batter Shayan Jahangir and bowlers Ehsan Adil and Mohammad Mohsin, are also said to be facing visa-related complications. Visa processing for players with Pakistani roots often involves additional security vetting when tournaments are hosted in India.

So far, neither USA Cricket nor the International Cricket Council has issued an official statement on the matter. It remains unclear whether an appeal process is underway or if the visa denial is final.

With the tournament fast approaching, uncertainty over player availability could force the USA team management into last-minute squad adjustments, potentially impacting their World Cup campaign.
