Trump Urges Iranians to Continue Protests, Says ‘Help Is on Its Way’

US President Donald Trump has called on Iranians to keep protesting against their rulers, as mass demonstrations continue across Iran and authorities intensify a nationwide crackdown.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday openly encouraged Iranians to sustain protests against the country’s clerical leadership, claiming that external support would soon arrive, even as Iranian authorities moved to suppress the largest wave of demonstrations seen in years.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump addressed protesters directly, writing:
“Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING – TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!! … HELP IS ON ITS WAY.”

However, the US president did not specify what form that assistance would take, leaving the statement open to interpretation and sparking immediate reactions both inside and outside Iran.

The remarks came amid widespread protests across Iran, driven by public anger over political repression, economic hardship, and restrictions on civil liberties. Security forces have responded with mass arrests, internet disruptions, and forceful dispersal of demonstrators, according to rights groups.

Iranian officials strongly condemned Trump’s comments, accusing him of encouraging political destabilization and inciting violence within the country. Tehran has long blamed foreign actors-particularly the United States-for unrest, describing protests as externally manipulated attempts to undermine the Islamic Republic.

Analysts say Trump’s statement is likely to further inflame tensions between Washington and Tehran, already strained by sanctions, regional conflicts, and disputes over Iran’s nuclear programme. While Trump has previously voiced support for protest movements in Iran, his latest remarks are among the most explicit calls for continued uprising.

As demonstrations persist and the government crackdown intensifies, uncertainty remains over whether international pressure or internal resistance will alter Iran’s political trajectory in the near term.
